For some time now, the JPH School staff have been thinking about setting up a "reading room". It was to be a pedagogically effective "reading room" in which the pupils could be introduced to reading, where they could spend time reading, develop a taste for good books and spend some time entertaining themselves with interesting reading material. This opportunity came when a teaching materials room for the secondary school was cleared out. Since the JPH School is now a primary school, this room could be converted into a reading room. Two colleagues set to work to redesign the room so that the bare materials room could be turned into a homely, comfortable reading lounge. Comfortable seating of all kinds invites you to browse. Each class submitted suggestions for names for the reading room. These were reviewed and a decision was made. The reading room at the Johann-Peter-Hebel School is called "Schmökerstübchen". The reading room was met with enthusiasm and acceptance quite quickly, but it is clear that the range of reading materials must be expanded quickly in order to meet the diverse interests of the students and the educational demands.
