"Children are not barrels to be filled, but fires to be ignited."
(Francois Rabelais)
Children who are of school age but not yet ready for school and are therefore deferred from school for a year can attend the primary school support class at the Waldprechtsweier primary school. It does not matter which primary school in Malsch the child will later attend.

The primary school support class has the task of preparing school-age children who have been held back from attending school for primary school. The aim of the educational support class is to develop skills and abilities that are important for successful school attendance. Attending the primary school support class is to provide holistic support for a child. This makes starting school much easier. Through learning together in a group, but also individual free work with work plans, and even individual support or support in small groups, children are optimally supported in various areas during this year of deferment and are guided towards the necessary school readiness.
This goal is also served by the close cooperation between the specialist in the primary school support class and the teachers in the school, who also come to the class for a few hours to provide support or individual instruction. In close cooperation with the primary school, the children can also experience school as a place of learning (interaction with teachers, lessons, breaks, specialist rooms, school activities, parties, etc.).
For children for whom a deferral from school attendance is recommended as part of the kindergarten-primary school cooperation due to developmental delays and the State Health Office also recommends a deferral. Or you as a parent have concerns about whether your child will be able to cope with the demands of the 1st grade.
If necessary, a school aptitude test carried out at the primary school supports this decision.
Reasons for this may be:
The focus of the pedagogical work is on strengthening key qualifications for the learning process:
Through targeted support, children are to develop basic skills and create the basis for further learning at school. It is not the task of the primary school support class to anticipate the teaching material of the first grade.
Individual, differentiated support for children with special difficulties sometimes requires intensive, trusting cooperation with parents and guardians and sometimes contact with other institutions (advice centers, therapists, special education institutions, schools with a special educational mandate).
The primary school support class in Waldprechtsweier cooperates with specialists from the following institutions: Early intervention center of the Gartenschule Ettlingen, Carl-Orff-Schule Ettlingen, Erich Kästner-Schule, Schule am Weinweg, Waldhausschule.
The decision regarding admission to the primary school support class is made by the head teacher in cooperation with the Malsch schools (Johann-Peter-Hebel-Schule, Hans-Thoma-Schule, Mahlbergschule) and the municipality of Malsch.
When deciding on admission, especially when there is a backlog of applications, the results of the school entry examination by the health department, observations by kindergartens and cooperating teachers and, in some cases, the results of a school aptitude test by the guidance counselor are taken into account. As a rule, 15 children will be admitted.
Registration takes place when you register for school at the primary school in your district. There, you must submit an application for deferment of school attendance and request admission to the primary school support class.
The school authority charges a monthly fee for attending the primary school support class. Information about this is available from the municipality of Malsch (07246/7070).
Classes are held daily from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Regular school holidays apply for attendance at the primary school support class.
The transport of children from Malsch, Sulzbach and Völkersbach is organized by the municipality of Malsch; the bus stops directly in front of the elementary school.
At the beginning of the school year, the children in the primary school support class are admitted to the class together with the students in the 1st grade of the Waldprechtsweier primary school and are welcomed by their head teacher.
